What are the ways of customs inspection in the United States
Us Customs will not disclose how it determines which goods are or are not selected for inspection at different times. Checks can be done randomly by the system or in cases that CBP officials consider suspicious.
1) Goods are held before they enter the United States. In this case, CBP may want to verify the cable information, this type of inspection, CBP may be based on the AMS or ISF entry in the suspicious declaration, the final inspection of the shipment.
2) A Contrab Enforcement Team (CET) Hold
In this type of inspection, Customs seeks to obtain more information about the safety standards, copyright or trademark of the imported goods, and to ensure the correct HTSUS classification and valuation of the goods. It also includes drugs, alcohol, weapons, anything that could pose a threat to the security of the United States. This hold needs to be unpacked. It will take 2-3 days to check this part.
3) The MET EXAM mainly verifies invoices, packing lists and other required documents. Need to unpack
4) Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System VACIS) or non-invasive inspection is a type of light inspection conducted directly in the terminal. Much like baggage scanning at airports, VACIS scans the entire container without breaking the seal. This examination is usually done relatively quickly.
5)Intensive exam transferred to (CES) or Customs bonded warehouse. I will not open the goods and inspect them myself. Depending on the port, this process may delay shipment by a few days to 2 weeks.
